Julie Lee, PhD

As a clinical psychologist and academic dean, Julie Lee, PhD, has devoted much of her career to improving mental health care and emotional wellness and enhancing educational outcomes for students from diverse backgrounds.  Currently, Dr. Lee works as Associate Dean of College for Academic Support and Transfer at Brown University. In her capacity, Dr. Lee elevates the importance of students’ mental health and develops and implements academic advising approaches, student resources and policies that support students’ mental health and emotional wellness.  Before working at Brown University, Dr. Lee provided direct clinical care and served diverse client populations in various settings, including several college counseling centers (Wellesley College, Boston University, and Harvard University), Veteran’s Affairs hospital, group practice, and private practice. During her appointment as a psychologist at Harvard, she completed an Administrative Fellowship Program, sponsored by the Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity.  

Developmental-Clinical Psychology theoretical framework provides the foundation of Dr. Lee’s work and her clinical approach with clients is culturally inclusive, anti-racist, strength-focused, and integrative.  In addition to clinical and academic affairs work, Dr. Lee provided management consulting service to Fortune 500 companies and offered consultation and workshops at numerous educational institutions, including Harvard Business School, Amherst College and Boston College. Dean Lee holds a B.A. in Psychology from Wellesley College, an M.Ed. in Human Development and Psychology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Suffolk University.
